(gguro) 2017. 7. 10. 13:37[Book] WWW:Watch by Robert J Sawyer (WWW-2): Government organisation involvement
This is the second book of the WWW Trilogy of Wake, Watch, and Wonder.
Title: WWW: Watch
Author: Robert J. Sawyer
Recently, I made a new habit for reading. I record my reading. By doing so, I could be less distracted, and estimate how long it takes to complete reading a book. Here are some (super-boring) videos of my reading:
1. Summary
The maths genius Caitlin got sight in the former book, Wake. And an emergent intelligent in the internet world has been found, Webmind.
In the second book, Watch, a US government organisation came into play. WATCH is an agency to monitor any suspicious action happening in the web. And they found there is something. And they named it Exponential.
They want to eliminate it. No. Him. They want to kill him. And of course, Caitlin and the parents want to save him.
In the meantime, Webmind helps people. He solved the cancer problem. And he saved lots of people.
2. My comments
In one sense I wanted to read it line by line without missing anything, in another sense I realised it would take too long and I would lose the interest on the way. So I compromised to skim and skip here and there.
I like the idea and the development of the story. And there are quite some parts we can enjoy. I forgot where exactly it was, the bra-ket notation is mentioned to describe quantum physics somewhere in this book, which is a nice surprise.
As I completed reading the whole trilogy, I will save the final comment for the next post.
My reviews on Sawyer's other books:
[책] Flashforward - Robert J. Sawyer
[책] Mindscan - Robert J. Sawyer: 뇌 복사 - 로버트 J. 소여
[책] Wake by Robert J. Sawyer (WWW-1): 스스로 생겨난 인공지능
