IELTS writing: Vocabulary, expressions, synonyms


This is a quick note on vocabulary, expressions and synonyms for IELTS writing


One of the criteria is lexical resource.


Synonyms

come in handy = turn out to be useful


versatile

fertile


considerable, appreciable, significant, noticeable, substantial, important, remarkable, 


apparent, apparently, obvious, obviously, clearly, definitely

equivocal, equivocally, vaguely,  questionably, ambiguous


inevitable, unavoidable, necessary, irresistible, essential

avoidable, unnecessary, inessential, needless, stoppable


futile, useless, fruitless 



It is worth to note there are some vocabularies which can be used to discuss advantages and disadvantages of a certain subject:

(1) advantage, benefit, in favour of, and gain

(2) disadvantage, drawback, against, and (loss).



Example sentence

Although there are a number of arguments to be made in favour of and against this idea, I feel that overall there is more gain for both individuals and society from such a policy.




I just post it to remember even though it's not a well-organised article.
